What We Watch

A few weeks ago we decided to let our kids watch Turning Red and Encanto, both on Disney Plus, with us watching along with them. Turning Red was the worst between the two but both had scenes that we had to fast forward because they were showing witchcraft being performed. Unfortunately television and movie studios have taken kid appealing entertainment and added witchcraft into the mix making it look cool and acceptable. When we as viewers allow ourselves and our families to watch entertainment like this we become numb to the effect they have on us as we get use to and accept their actions and activities as being ok. This can then lead us into not just watching but physically participating in witchcraft which will draw us away from Yah (God) and lead us and our families to destruction.

"And it is perfectly evident what the old nature does. It expresses itself in sexual immorality, impurity and indecency; involvement with the occult and with drugs; in feuding, fighting, becoming jealous and getting angry; in selfish ambition, factionalism, intrigue and envy; in drunkenness, orgies and things like these. I warn you now as I have warned you before: those who do such things will have no share in the Kingdom of God!"

- Galatians 5:19‭-‬21 CJB
"But as for the cowardly, the untrustworthy, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those involved with the occult and with drugs, idol-worshippers, and all liars — their destiny is the lake burning with fire and sulfur, the seond death."

Revelation 21:8 CJB

Yah warns us in His Word that witchcraft will lead you to the second death and away from Him. Satan will trick and deceive you by slowly adding in these destructive images by having you just accept them as they get darker and darker. One successful example of this is Harry Potter where the first film is a happy-go-lucky, family friendly rated film which only gets darker as the series continues. I personally started to just accept the darkness that Marvel is heading into by not being phased with the magic and darkness used in the final episode of WandaVision. Thankfully Yah woke me up and I realized the direction Marvel is headed after having watched the trailers for the Moon Knight Disney Plus series and the upcoming Doctor Strange film. The trailers both show how Marvel has turned down the dark magic and cult worshipping path. Check out these two images below.

The first one is from the upcoming Doctor Strange film where the main character ends up having the third all seeing eye that is known to be part of the demonic cult Illuminati. The second is from a cover of a Marvel comic that some are thinking the story will be integrated into the film. You can even see the left hand of Doctor Strange in second picture displaying the demon hand gesture and they are flat out called The New Avengers’ Illuminati. As Christians we need to boycott this type of entertainment and instead support and back up more positive and Christian themed shows and films. We also need to pray for those around the world that they will wake up from accepting the darkness the entertainment business is shoving onto us and instead show them that we only want positive Christ like shows and films.

May you have a great week and Praise Yah!

Perfect

This past Friday night my boys and I went to see Dude Perfect’s show at the Excel Energy Center. If you don’t know who Dude Perfect is you can check out their website or their YouTube channel. In a nutshell they are five friends who started out doing trick shots and have added several other things to their videos over time. Though I don’t watch them all the time like my boys I have seen several of their videos, I personally root for Garrett when they do battles, and I thought it was cool to see a few of their different segments in person. One segment I really enjoyed was their “Cool Not Cool” segment, seen below, where they let the audience vote on whether they thought an item was cool or not cool.

Dude Perfect At Excel Energy Center

I do have to say though that the part I liked the most was at the very end when Ty had some final words. He said that they may be called Dude Perfect but they are anything but perfect. They do know though that Jesus loves them no matter what, like the younger son in Jesus’ prodigal son parable (Luke 15:11-24), and He loves us too and wants us to give our hearts to Him and come to Him no matter what we have done. Unfortunately most celebrities today push for having to have certain looks or abilities in order to be perfect or popular. To hear Ty tell a younger audience that they are loved no matter what is big.

It’s also brave for him and the other guys to publicly say they are Christians. Sadly today most people are about themselves and if someone famous gives a hint that they believe in Jesus they get ridiculed by others. Though I know that God blesses those who stand up for Him, it can be hard and can bring many trials to do so as the world around us is more about themselves than Someone Who is greater. I pray that we all can have the courage that the Dude Perfect guys have and share with everyone our faith. Also I pray that people can know that none of us will ever be “perfect” but that’s OK because Jesus loves us just as we are. He wants us to come to Him willing to be in His presence and share His love with everyone around us.

God Bless

Thought Of The Day: 01/29/21

“The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eyes are unhealthy, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness!”
‭‭
- Matthew‬ ‭6:22-23‬ ‭NIV

Do the shows and movies you watch make you the person you are? I think that they can have an impact on the type of person you are and what you deem ok. The Bible says that what we allow ourselves to see effects our whole body. Back when I was younger I would watch shows and movies that were very violent and even considered to be part of the horror genre. I also was a big fan of both the books and movies of Harry Potter. My walk with God back then was not anything close to what it is now. Though I do still watch Star Wars and Marvel movies and Disney+ shows I have cut back on the amount of violence I’ll allow in something I watch. If I’m not watching these shows then I’ll either be watching a nature show or watching a HGTV, Food Network, or Counting On episodes with my wife (I do pass on the birth episodes). Sadly I have recently found out what the future of Marvel movies and shows may be heading towards, rated R violence and loaded with magic, so I’m currently praying for guidance on if I should cut these out soon as well. I pray that you can be shown where you should draw the line in Entertainment so that it doesn’t affect the type of person you are negatively or draws you away from God.

God Bless
