June 3/Sivan 14

Shabbat Shalom! Here are this Sabbath’s Torah readings:

  • Numbers 7:72-89
  • Judges 13:2-25
  • Acts 21:17-26; 24:14-18

In today’s New Testament reading, Apostle Paul says that he still obeys the Torah and the rules that Yah (God) gives His people even as a believer in Yeshua (Jesus). Though there were those who tried to say he wasn’t still following Torah, he was willing to show them that he was. As Christians, believers in Yeshua, we should still follow the rules of the Torah, which we then are obeying Yeshua. You can learn more about why we should be following the Torah and that new commandments were not made by Yeshua in my post Jesus and The Torah.

Shalom

“But this I do admit to you: I worship the God of our fathers in accordance with the Way (which they call a sect). I continue to believe everything that accords with the Torah and everything written in the Prophets."

-Acts of Emissaries of Yeshua (Act) 24:14 CJB

Judging Others

A couple weeks ago I had someone I know say they were going to go see the new Dr. Strange movie. (You can read my opinion on the new Dr. Strange movie in my previous blog What We Watch) Both myself and my oldest son told them why we think it’s not an appropriate movie to watch. They said they didn’t care and were still going to watch it. This person has also watched and supported several other anti God movies/shows/current issues. After I wasn’t in front of that person I told my wife how they are never going to change and they are just headed to hell. My wife told me to not judge and to remember the things I watched before I gave my life to Yah (God).

(A quick history about my past. I went to church pretty much every Sunday growing up but I was living my parents faith. With my friends I watched movies like Silence Of The Lambs, the Nightmare On Elm Street movie series, and Tim Currys version of It along with other movies like these. I also watched the show South Park and the movie they released. Once I had a true personal relationship with Yah I regretted watching those movies and shows and I have not watched any horror movies or many, if any, rated R movies since. I also feel very uncomfortable when lots of language is used in a film or show, especially if they are using Yah’s Name in vain.)

What my wife said to me helped me to be more aware of not judging others and to just pray for them instead. Here is what Yeshua (Jesus) says about judging others.

“Don’t judge, so that you won’t be judged. For the way you judge others is how you will be judged — the measure with which you measure out will be used to measure to you."

-Matthew 7:1‭-‬2 CJB

How we judge others we ourselves will be likewise judged with that same measure. We have all sinned and therefore are no better then the next person. Instead of judging others we should humbly pray for them and ourselves that we may all live a life that exalts Yah, and we should also pray that we may partake in things that please Him. Today I pray that our neighbors, our country, our leaders, our world will turn from evil and darkness and instead glorify Yah.

Have a blessed day.

Do Not Judge But Give

“Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”
‭‭
- Luke‬ ‭6:37-38‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Do you judge people? I know that I am guilty of it probably everyday. Most of the time I catch myself and say this verse in my head. I then ask for forgiveness. I am no better then anybody else. We all have our faults, our strengths and weaknesses. God loves each of us the same so we should love each other. This is what God wants us to do. We should also give what we can to those who don’t have. Not because of what we may get in return but to show God’s love to others through our giving. I pray that we will not judge others and be more generous.

God Bless

Thought Of The Day: 02/02/21

There are times when I catch myself judging others. As Christians we are suppose to love others and not judge them. I’m always having to remind myself of these verses from Matthew.

“Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?”
‭‭
- Matthew‬ ‭7:1-3‬ ‭NIV‬‬

When we judge others we are only bringing that judgment upon ourselves. Each one of us has something that we need to work on and change. We can help each other but we need to make sure that we are not judging each other.
